11 Foods That Boost Libido: Aphrodisiacs To Increase Sex Drive

Eat these aphrodisiac foods to increase sex drive. Your health and sexual life will get better by boosting testosterone production with supplements for men

Last updated Fact Checked: Jan 30, 2022

If you regularly find yourself falling asleep or preferring to catch some Z’s when it’s time to engage in a fumble with your partner, the chances are that you are suffering from low libido. You need a boost in your sexual health.

Now, we are not talking about getting a crotchless thong or some fishnet stockings for your sexual satisfaction.

Instead, what we’re suggesting is that you incorporate a few key foods into your diet that will give you that kick up the backside, boost your libido, rev up your sex life and get you back in the mood to have better sex.

1. Black Raspberries

Incorporate some berries into your diet. It’s very quick and easy, just get a handful of them and eat them whenever you are about to engage in some form of sexual activity. This is also true for seeds.

The reason why raspberries work so well is that they are rich in phytochemicals – which boost libido and enhance sexual function. This is according to Dr. Ana Maria and Brian Clement, the authors of a book called seven keys to lifelong sexual vitality.

2. Broccoli

Whether you’ve cooked it, boiled it, or tossed it into a salad bowl raw, either way, it will give your libido a boost due to its high vitamin C content. This is the advice of Keri Glassman, a chief dietitian, and author. She says that vitamin C aids with healthy blood circulation to vital sexual organs and therefore improves libido.

So if you were going to have some vegetables with your steak for dinner, you may as well kill two birds and pick this one.

3. Cloves

Cloves are a super fruit and extremely versatile. They can be cooked in various ways or even used as a garnish, brewed in apple cider, and the possibilities are endless. Cloves are good for males and females, and in India, for many centuries the natives have used them as a treatment for erectile dysfunction.

In various general studies, the findings have shown that cloves have increased the sexual activity of rats. So that’s where they got the expression, “get your rat out then!”.

There are also other uses for cloves such as getting rid of bad breath, which I’m sure will play a role in foreplay because nobody wants to kiss someone with bad breath.

4. Figs

Figs have the aphrodisiac properties of magically being able to turn you into a hormone-ridden teenager again. Figs are excellent for fertility and a great stimulant for your body to produce pheromones. What you should do is, snack on five or six figs before you get busy that day.

5. Watermelon

As once commonly thought, dark chocolate is a well-known aphrodisiac for star-crossed lovers. But, the latest research indicates that this may have just been a smokescreen, whereas, in reality, this is correct for watermelon.

The phenylethylamine that is present in chocolate is thought to heighten serotonin and endorphin levels, but contrary to popular belief, there is no correlation between chocolate and sexual desire and sexual arousal.

It’s better to stick a slice of watermelon down your cakehole, even though the majority of it comprises water, the remaining 8% is fully-fledged and densely packed with beneficial nutrients to improve your sexual dysfunction.

In 2008 the Texas A and M fruit and vegetable improvement center discovered that watermelon was closely resembling and mimicking Viagra-like effects on the blood flow of human beings, I’m glad it wasn’t rats this time!

Citrulline is the active ingredient in watermelon which the body uses to convert into arginine. Arginine aims to produce nitric oxide levels which cause vasodilation in a very similar way to that of Viagra.

6. Eggs

Eggs are probably one of the most versatile foods on the planet. You can fry them, scramble them, poach them, boiled them, heck, eat them raw if you want. Even if you had a long day at work, feeling tired and not in the mood – a couple of eggs would take you the distance for the long haul in the bedroom.

Eggs are high protein-rich food and low in calories at the same time. The protein will aid you and increase your sexual stamina, and they also contain L-arginine – the amino acid we mentioned previously which increases nitric oxide levels.

7. Ginseng

Recent research conducted by the University of Hawaii found that by supplementing your body with ginseng, you will be able to increase your libido levels significantly and substantially within as little as a month.

The people involved in the study showed that 68% of them increased desire and saw a dramatic improvement in their sex lives. Ginseng can easily be implemented into your diet. You can use it in food or for an easier more accessible alternative there are many ginseng-infused teas.

Be aware though of products such as energy drinks which claim to have ginseng in them. Most of these are also accompanied by dangerous and toxic chemicals that will do nothing for your libido except to deplete it.

8. Saffron

Some say that saffron is more expensive than gold, well if it is I’m just happy that it is not as expensive as Oud. Otherwise, none of us will be able to get hold of it. Saffron is a delight for your digestive system and sex life.

The best way to use saffron and incorporate it into your life for the much-needed libido boost, you should soak the strands in hot liquid then infuse them into your favorite meal. Or you could do what I do and just brew it with tea. But, make sure that you brew it for long enough so that the nutrients can infuse into the liquid of your stew.

9. Lettuce

Lettuce is not only good for your waistline, but it also helps improve your libido and sex drive. A standard, ordinary iceberg lettuce found in any regular supermarket contains an opiate that increases sex hormone levels.

Feast on a bit of this for dinner and you will be ready for afters in no time.

10. Ginger

Ginger is an age-old herb and spice that has been used for sexual medicine purposes by the ancient Asian civilizations and even King Henry VII himself.

In later times such as now, we have been able to deduce the specific proof and reasons as to why ginger is so successful in aiding in blood circulation, temperature adjustment, and libido enhancement as well as many other conditions that it treats.

Similar to the other best foods we have mentioned, Ginger is very easily incorporated into meals and drinks. Ginger is even suitable for the treatment of colds and flu because it is challenging to get kinky with snot dripping from your nose.

11. Pomegranate

Scientists have now discovered that a daily glass of pomegranate juice will substantially increase libido and testosterone level within as little as two weeks.

The study was done at a university in Edinburgh at the end of the survey it was even concluded that positive emotions were at an all-time high and negative feelings had plummeted.

Pomegranate has been known to be a super fruit/superfood for a while now. But, pure pomegranate juice is not as readily available as say orange juice, nor is it even in the same price bracket. It is much more expensive and considering you will need to drink at least a glass a day; the cost can soon add up.

What’s The Alternative?

Male Extra pills are the only supplement available that we know of or have come across which has incorporated pomegranate into the mix in their specially blended concoction of male enhancement and libido boosting ingredients.

It will even probably work out to be cheaper than buying pomegranate juice but with the added benefits of some of the other ingredients all jampacked into a single herbal supplement.

Libido Killer #1: Oysters

What? Who? When? How?

If I were to ask a random person on the street what was the number one libido-boosting food he would most likely say oysters, wouldn’t you think?

But that’s all BS and hype, just because you’ve read it on a few websites, doesn’t mean that it becomes automatically accurate. Otherwise, I may as well just tell you I have a 10 inch Dick!

Oysters contain Zinc, which plays a massive role in hormone production and semen production in the testes. But, oysters are also very harmful because similarly to other shellfish, they absorb toxins from the water in the sea which provides more harm than the good that comes from the zinc they contain.

It is better to swap the shellfish for some spinach for your zinc replacement. And Fatty fish contains healthy fats such as omega 3 fatty acids.

Libido Killer #2: Processed Foods

Processed foods, especially ones that are baked such as cakes and sugary snacks will extinguish the fire of arousal in a split second. Baked process goods contain saturated trans–fats. They even sound dangerous, don’t they? That’s because they are – they wreak havoc with somatic cells and the human immune system.

They kind of gang up around cells, coagulating them and stopping glucose from being readily absorbed, resulting in excessive nutrients remaining in the blood which increases blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, decreases libido, and increases the risk of heart disease.

Microwave meals and ready meals should also be avoided because they contain all sorts of chemicals which should never have been entering your body in the first place.

Libido Killer #3: Dairy

Who doesn’t love ice cream on a hot summer day or extra cheese on their pizza? But, it’s better to stick to a lactose-free alternative because lactic acid eliminates oxygen very quickly. So, if you are going to ignore this advice at least limit your dairy consumption to a maximum of three times per week.

We hope we don’t come across as sounding like milk is evil because let’s not forgotten the benefits that it offers such as it is high in calcium. Calcium is, in fact, good for cellular health.

You can still get the benefits of calcium through other means other than the consumption of dairy, try sprouted beans, cabbage, broccoli, and soy milk.

The Natural And More Efficient Option?

If you have difficulty in incorporating all of these food options into your diet to reap the benefits of enhanced libido and sexual performance, then there are more accessible options available.

Why not consider one of the many popular herbal supplements that are available which contain most of the active ingredients in the foods that we have mentioned but in the form of a pill.

Be careful not to jump on the hype of the first supplement you come across but do your research by browsing around on this website for the best options available. We recommend that you pick one of the 4 supplements called VigRX Plus, Male Extra, ExtenZe, or ProSolution Plus Pills.

You can read their individual more detailed reviews before you make a decision or hop over directly to their respective official websites.
