BFC's Guide to a Body-Positive Life

This area is in transition and is both disorganized and out of date - thank you for your patience!

This is a grass-roots body freedom advocacy site and user-friendly guide to help restore dignity to the body and soul in fun and creative ways. We seek to bring together people, events, ideas, and issues; and provide a sense of community by fostering communication and cooperation. Sharing common interests and resources in advancing freedom for all bodies while respecting differences in philosophy and strategies.

Disclaimer: The BFC does not necessarily advocate issues related to sites or ideas in this area. This area explores the broader world of body freedom that includes and goes well beyond BFC's focus.

What is body freedom? Many use the term to refer to freedoms associated with the physical body. That would include freedom from physical harm, abuse, harassment, unhealthy elements in our environment, unjust repression, discrimination, et cetera.

Many believe that such freedom goes beyond a heightened physical awareness - arguing that it also gives our soul a sense of well being, a sense of being at peace with ourselves, our community, and our environment. It thus follows that we feel that body freedom is an integral part of gaia - a state of balanced interdependence between health, ecology and spirit.

The primary focus of this site is to advance opportunities for clothing-free, family-oriented lifestyles in the public realm. We have a vision that people should be able to determine what they wear (if anything) on their own private property (inside and outside the home), in parks and beaches, and on our streets.

For those who are intersted in general body freedom issues (outside of the scope of the BFC) we have provided links to organizations reflecting body-positive values. Some of these organizations include those advocating human rights, environmental issues, spiritual rights (freedom from harm stemming from other peoples' religion/tradition), freedom from circumcision or genital mutilation (without consent from the victim), reproductive rights, relationship and sexuality rights, comprehensive sex education, discrimination, safe & sane drug law reform, and freedom of expression.
